The Entrepreneurship Fair.
Accra, Ghana – March 29, 2025. The Entrepreneurship Fair: EDF 2025 – The Venture Vanguard Edition at the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) was a vibrant showcase of student innovation, as participants presented creative business ideas as part of their final exams. The event featured a diverse range of projects, from modern twists on traditional foods to innovative hygiene solutions.
One of the most talked-about products was Pitoh, a reimagined version of the classic local drink. Many attendees, both young and old, were eager to try its new flavors—palm wine and pineapple with ginger—which led to Pitoh becoming the first product to sell out. One attendee who tasted the palm wine-flavored Pitoh described it as “very nice.” The group’s friendly service and high hygiene standards also impressed customers.
Another standout project was Gashit, a pre-mixed combination of gari and shito designed for SHS boarding students. Instead of buying ingredients separately, students could simply purchase this ready-to-eat mix in sachets or containers. The packaging was well-designed, making it both convenient and appealing.
Other groups introduced unique food and beverage innovations, including Ticket Berry powder and a groundnut bread spread, catering to different tastes and nutritional needs. A group focused on women’s hygiene created a package containing sanitizers, sanitary pads, and other essentials for personal care. Another team introduced a baobab fruit drink, personally harvested and processed by the students. Those who tried it, including a roommate of one attendee, praised its refreshing taste.
The fair was not just an academic exercise but a real-world experience that allowed students to develop, market, and pitch their products to potential investors. Faculty and industry professionals praised the students for their ingenuity, emphasizing the significance of such events in nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs.
With innovative products like Pitoh, Gashit, baobab drinks, and health-conscious food items, UniMAC’s young entrepreneurs are proving they have the creativity and drive to make a lasting impact.
